A satinwood armchair with a carved lyre back

A fine satinwood armchair with a carved lyre back and brass ‘strings’. An almost identical chair is illustrated in the Victoria & Albert Museum, English Chairs, 1970. Our chair is late 19th Century, the one illustrated is c. 1775 and thought to have been made by Francis Herve who worked for Henry Holland at Carlton House.
