London clock by Heeley
An exceptional London made longcase clock with 8-Day hour striking movement, moonphase in the arch, subsidiary seconds, inset date work and applied arched signature plate over the matted brass centre. In good working order.
Bengamin Heeley, Deptford (and a Joseph Heeley) are recorded in Baillie's 'Clockmakers of the World' as working in 1747 ~ this movement c.1770 ~ perhaps made later in his career or made by his son.
Fine quality and well proportioned mahogany case of an excellent colour and patina. Attractive brass captital quarter columns on the hood trunk and base panel and shaped double plinth.
This clock would formally have been taller with a pagoda top. The only other restoration are the the brass finails which are replaced in the correct style; otherwise in good original condition.
