Antique breakfront bookcase, attributed to Gillows
A fine George III breakfront bookcase, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster, of compact proportions: in rosewood with boxwood stringing and satinwood banding and with attractive turned and tapering column supports. The attribution to Gillows is based on stylistic similarities to a rosewood commode supplied by Gillows to Luke Dillon 2nd Lord Clonbrock, County Galway. See Frances Collard, Regency furniture page 83 for a photograph of this commode. c.1810
