Victorian pike
A 19th Century plaster trophy pike mounted on an oak veneereed board. The pike measures 44" from nose to tail so according the Loughs Agency website, this whopper would have weighed around 34lbs.
Unfortunately the labels that were stuck to the front bottom right corner have been removed but from the back you can see the fish is fixed in place with hand-made screws not normally used after 1880; there is also faint pencil marks 5/V/?6 possibly 5th May 1860.
The pike was in my father's collection ~ I remember it in situ in his house 40 years ago but have no record where he bought it.
