Pair of Empire console tables

A fine pair of Empire mahogany console tables with ormolu mounts of a lute player with other instruments at his feet, a leaf motif on the top of the legs and a very charming escutcheon of two squirrels; the tables have replaced breccia marble tops. Each table has identical mounts, are the same size and exactly the same construction with precisely the same dovetails and are clearly both made in the early 19th century, but the veneers of the drawers and the bases are very slightly different.
