
Large rocking horse by Collinson
A large rocking horse made by Collinson in about 1950. J Collinson has been making rocking horses since 1835, but most of the ones that have survived date from the post-war period.
The paintwork is original and has had minor resoration, the saddle is original and the bridle has been made from old horse tack, the mane, tail and forelock are mainly original but have had a small amount of horsehair added to them.
Collinson rocking horses can be identified by:
    Rectangular (not turned) vertical pillars on the stand
    Corduroy or velvet saddle tops
    Vinyl 'Rexine' saddle flaps and saddlecloths
    'Pin eyes' made from decorative nails (but ours has glass eyes)
    Diamond shaped plywood decoration on the top bar of the stand
