Pair of antique gilt mirrors
An attractive near pair of 19th century Chippendale style gilt wood oval mirrors; superb carved detail with rococo scrolls and acanthus leaves; one mirror has finer carving and we suspect it was made in the 1840s with the second made to go with it in the 1880s. Judging by the age of the backs, they are clearly antique and 19th century. Some of the gilding original but refreshed, both the same colour & in the afternoon under indirect sunlight the colour becomes richer.
We were told they came from a house in the Lake Disctrict.
