Early 18th Century Burr Ash Veneered Bureau

An early 18th Century burr ash veneered bureau with a well and stepped interior. The drawers, fall and top have cross-grained and herring bone banding and matched veneers.
The colour and patina is exceptional. The bureau is made in exactly the same way as a walnut veneered bureau of the same period but veneered ash is rarer and has a lovely grain and figuring.

Provenance: Julian Bream the composer and guitarist; we knew the bureau had come from his house in Semley, Dorset but this was confirmed when we found a dog tag with his name on it in behind the bottom drawer.
