Set of French faience Rouen plates
An attractive set of four 18th century French faience plates in good bright enamel colours decorated with flowers, cornucopia, birds and butterflies.
The pattern is a known design, made in Rouen in the mid 18th century. There is a similar dish in the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
The workman has marked his work with two blue dots. Old collector's labels on the backs. Two of the dishes in good condition, another with a small rim chip and the 4th broken in 2 and glued back together, some glaze crazing.
