Chippendale style giltwood mirror
A fine early 19th century carved mirror in its original gilt. The intricate giltwood frame showcases the finest craftsmanship of the period, featuring ornate carvings of flowers, shells, rococo scrolls, acanthus leaves and a beautifully aged patina. The mirror plate, while still in fair condition, has some diagonal marks across the corners caused by the batons on the back that hold it in place.
Provenance: The mirror came from a house near Salisbury and although I don't believe it was from the 1760s, I would still be confident that it was made in the early part of the 19th century.
