George III mahogany four-poster bed
A George III four poster bed with mahogany end posts particularly finely carved with acanthus leaves, drapery, rope twists, a complete daisy and extensive stop-fluted and reeded detail. The 19th cornice in the Chippendale manner with dentils and egg and dart carving.
All 4 posts are 18th Century but extended in height, the oak rails are a mixture of old and new. The mattress and curtains should be replaced.

Provenance: Yester House, East Lothian, Scotland a fine Palladian House which was worked on by the architects William Adam and later his sons Robert and James for the Marquess of Tweedale.
