17th Century Oak Wainscot Chair
A late 17th wainscot chair in oak of a good colour and patina and handsome carved back; channel mouldings to the back and seat rails and boldly turned gun barrel legs and arm supports; please see photo of the underside of the seat - the seat is clearly old with marks of it having had a centre bearer but is possibly a Victorian replacement.
For chairs with similar carving & features see Chinnery Figure 4:151a and Tobias Jellinek Plate 178 which the authors describe as South Lancashire/North Cheshire and late 17th century.
