Square piano by Wood, Small and Co of Edinburgh and London in mahogany with ebony stringing - in playing condition (would need tuning). Six turned legs with brass collars at the top. Original folding music holder and removable foot pedal.
Five octaves of ebony and ivory keys; above the keys the maker's name is drawn onto a satinwood panel and there are two squares of brass stringing; also two panels of fretwork to let the sound out if the lid is closed. There are two drawers for music.
Square pianos have a softer, quieter tone than modern pianos so are ideal for not annoying the neighbours.
